Lucy Keyworth
Youth Commissioner
I first joined scouting at the age of 6 as a Beaver at 1st High Lane Scout Group. I worked my way through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers and am now a leader at High Lane and Section Leader for a Scout group in Leeds. Here I attend university studying a degree in Media Communications and Culture. In 2015, I was lucky enough to be selected to represent Greater Manchester East at the World Scout Jamboree in Japan as part of unit 55. The Jamboree allowed me to discover my love for international scouting and following this I was fortunate enough to attend Roverway 2016 in France and Roverway 2018 in The Netherlands as a participant, as well as my Explorer Belt in Finland and the World Scout Jamboree in America in 2019 as part of the international service team. In 2018, I was awarded my Queen Scout award and offered the opportunity to take on the role of county youth commissioner in which I gladly accepted. This involves ensuring our programme reflects the opinions of young people and that Beavers through to Network have their voices heard. In addition, I am also a Development Team Assistant for the scouts, where I set up new provisions in hard to reach communities and areas of deprivation in Leeds and Wakefield. When I am not scouting, I enjoy sports and play wheelchair tennis and wheelchair rugby league and basketball for Leeds Rhinos.
