About the Network Section
The Scout Network is The Scout Association’s Section for 18 to 25 year olds. Becoming a member will give you the opportunity to take part in a wide range of exciting activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, water skiing, international projects, work with young people and help within the local community… The list of activities, projects and events is almost endless.
Scout Network can be based at a County/Area level or in a Scout District. The Section is run on a less formal basis than the other youth Sections in Scouting, this allows you to fit in around your other commitments. Your Scout Network may not necessarily meet on a weekly basis, this decision is down to the Scout Network members. As a Scout Network member you will have the opportunity to achieve some of the highest personal achievement awards for young adults in the UK, including the Queen’s Scout and Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. You will also have the opportunity to work towards gaining recognition from many national governing bodies, as well as developing new skills and building on existing ones.
Once you have joined, you can go to any Network meeting regardless of the County/Area or District in which it is being held. This means that if you move or go away to University you will be able to carry on going to Scout Network events and activities at home, whilst you are away, or both.
You will have the opportunity to complete the Queen’s Scout Award and if you were an Explorer Scout you can finish your Chief Scout’s Diamond or Platinum Award. As you work through these awards you will also be working through the criteria of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.
